In 2006 “Knit 1, Peru 2” of Houston, Texas, was started as a support group for Operación San Andrés. The original group of six women began meeting in the home of Karen Falls to knit and crochet hats, scarves, blankets, baby sweaters and ponchos for the children of Collique, Peru. Over time the group has increased in size to fifteen women who still meet almost every Wednesday. Cloth eyeglass holders are made annually for the Vision Care clinic to use during the OSA medical campaigns’ eyeglass distribution. The women of Knit 1, Peru 2 give much time, love and support to help the children of Collique feel a little warmer during the winter months.
