As described in the History page, soon after Operación San Andrés (OSA) was founded it was adopted as a mission endeavor of South Main Baptist Church (SMBC) in Houston, Texas. Soon thereafter, OSA realized that the growth and effectiveness of its ministry in Collique could be improved through cooperative efforts with other Christian organizations that support our goals. As a result, OSA’s major Ministry Partners now include Tallowood Bapist Church in Houston, The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and Buckner International in addition to SMBC. OSA is also fortunate to be supported by a broad spectrum of churches and a variety of non-profit organizations shown in the list of Friends and Supporters. Many of these organizations provide financial assistance or have donated medicine, medical supplies, eye glasses or clothing to support the work of OSA. The friends and supporters of OSA include representatives from many Christian denominations including Presbyterian and Episcopal churches in Kirriemuir, Scotland. OSA is truly an international and ecumenical mission endeavor.
Working with OSA has been a life changing experience for those who have participated in OSA mission trips, and the Reflections page provides a few examples of how OSA has impacted the lives of individual ministry participants. Clearly the mission of OSA is to provide effective, holistic ministry to the marginalized residents of Collique, Peru. The Testimonials page includes a sampling of notes of appreciation (translated from Spanish) from residents of Collique.
